This is the newly updated version of the game, distinct from the jam version.

Changes made include adding collectible upgrades, making this into a metroidvania, showing the walking direction of enemies and making their routes more visible, making the game fullscreen so you can get a wider view, making the graphics slightly voxel-like, among plenty of other tweaks.

Controls:

Arrows or WASD: Move

Space: Roll die

R: Reset to checkpoint


Goal: Escape from prison and make it back home!

A ball and chain follows behind you, which, while preventing you from directly turning around, also blocks enemies.

Bones are an optional collectible.


I was working on this (a solo game -- art, music, code made by me all during the jam) at the same time as being the only programmer on another game in the jam (Don't Get Fired), so unfortunately because I had to last minute fix that game I didn't have time to even make sure that this was even completable. But don't worry, I've now beaten my own game, but it definitely does take a bit of persistence, great luck, and strategy toward the end. On the other hand, I didn't test an all bones run, so I'm not even sure now if that's doable.

Also, as a hint about enemy behavior -- it's only partially random. Enemies have set paths and only make a decision on hitting a solid wall, or an invisible block that's only solid to enemies.
